Something lucky happened the other day.
I buy ice cream for my daughters once a week.
It’s a little reward for them because they’ve been doing their best every single day since we moved here.
A new environment, new friends, new teachers… everything is new!
We’re still getting used to it, and it takes a lot of energy.
So once a week, I treat them to some ice cream.
You know, most things in Australia are more expensive than in Japan.
But ice cream isn’t!
It’s only $1!
And here’s the surprising part…
On Mondays, it’s just 50 cents!
Can you believe it?
We can get 3 ice creams for just $1.50!
Lasy Monday,
we went to the store to get our weekly treat.
But the staff member said,
“Sorry, the machine isn’t working today.”
Oh no!
But it had happened before, so I just smiled and said,
“I know these things happen. Thank you anyway!”
When we were about to head home, another staff member called us back.
He handed us a box.
There were 4 donuts inside!
We couldn’t believe it.
He just smiled and waved goodbye.
We thanked him as much as we could and went home with big smiles.
Actually, donuts are a bit pricey here.
I think the box he gave us costs around $13 to $15.
So we got $13–15 worth of donuts—for free!
It reminded me of a similar story I heard recently. 🤣
But the best part of all was seeing my daughters happy and smiling because of his kindness.
That’s worth more than any money
We’ll definitely go back again soon… maybe day after tomorrow.

私たちはそのアイスを買いにお店に行きました。
でもスタッフの方がこう言ったんです。
「すみません、今日は機械が動いていません」
「うわあ…」とは思ったけど、
以前にも同じことがあったので、
私は笑顔で
「そういうこともありますよね。ありがとうございます」
と言って、帰ろうとしました。
すると、別のスタッフの方が私たちを呼び止めて、
箱を手渡してくれました。
中には、なんとドーナツが4つ！
びっくりしました。
でもその方はニコッと笑って
ただバイバーイと🤣✨
私達は何度もお礼を言って、
ニコニコで家に帰りました。
実は、ドーナツって
ちょっと高いんですよ💦
あの箱、たぶん13ドルから15ドル
くらいすると思います。(1400円ぐらい？)
つまり、13〜15ドル分のドーナツを
無料でもらっちゃったんです！
なんだか、最近聞いた話に似てる気がします🤣

でも、何よりうれしかったのは、
娘たちがその優しさのおかげで笑顔になったこと。
それは、お金なんかよりずっと大事なことです。
また近いうちに、あのお店に行こうと思います…
